WIZO Federations Around The World
THE EUROPEAN COUNCIL OF WIZO FEDERATIONS
Founded in 1992 as a non-fund raising arm of WIZO, the ECWF is financially independent of any funds raised for Israel but works closely with the World WIZO Public Affairs Department. The ECWF now has an active network throughout Europe, including some East European Federations.
- AIMS
- To strengthen the bonds between European Federations.
- To fight anti-semitism and racism
- To promote gender equality, human rights and the status of women.
- To give information on Israeli policy
- To organise conferences in different towns in Europe( wherever there is a WIZO presence)
- MEMBERSHIP
- Two delegates appointed by each member Federation (from which the executive is elected)
- Individual membership open to all WIZO members, subject to nomination.
- REPRESENTATION ON
- Council of Europe (C of E) with Consultative status.
- European Womens Lobby (EWL) in Brussels.
- UN. Commissions on the Status of Women and Human Rights
- In December every year a Conference with eminent speakers, giving the opportunity to local WIZO members to participate in a prestigious event. Non-members both Jewish and non-Jewish may attend.
- Yearly General Assembly in Spring, with a keynote speaker .
- Full reports from ECWF delegates to Cof E, EWL, Status of Women and Human Rights Commissions are always presented at these meetings.
