WIZO is dedicated to the well being of children. After opening its first centre for children in 1924, WIZO has established hundreds of services and projects all over Israel for the benefit of toddlers and children.
Neve WIZO is a unique project providing children who have been removed from their families by court order with a substitute home and a loving surrogate family. Neve WIZO uniquely enables brothers and sisters to remain together in contrast to foster families and institutions. This project serves as an international model of a rehabilitation program for children at risk.
Therapeutic Child Centres: WIZO’s 30 Therapeutic Child Centres, operating in partnership with government and municipal social services, target 5-12 year old children from dysfunctional families. The centres provide an educational-therapeutic framework from the end of the school day until the early evening.
Play Centres: WIZO operates Play Centres for disadvantaged children and new immigrants. Parents are invited to participate in activities at the play centers and share in their child’s development. Several Play Centres operate in Israel’s minority communities.
After-School Clubs: The WIZO After-School Clubs offer an educational-social framework for children of working parents. They operate five days a week, from the conclusion of the school day until the late afternoon. The children receive a hot meal, prepare homework and participate in activities and games.
