Leave a Legacy

LEAVE A LEGACY TO WIZO.UK

What is a WIZO Lifeliner?

A Lifeliner is someone who has left a legacy to
WIZO.uk Registered Charity No: 1125012 Registered Company No:6634748  and has told us!

Why do I need to tell you that I have left a legacy to WIZO.UK?

We would be so pleased to be able to thank you and show you our appreciation - it also gives us the confidence to plan now for the future.

Your estate will benefit by leaving a legacy to WIZO.UK which is a registered charity and therefore exempt from inheritance tax , so the full value of your gift will go to our work in Israel.

Ways you can leave a legacy to WIZO.UK

A residuary legacy means that you will leave all or a percentage of the remainder of your estate to WIZO.UK - after specific bequests have been allocated. This will ensure that WIZO.UK receives a meaningful sum whilst taking care of your loved ones.

A pecuniary legacy is leaving a specific sum of money - though remember that this can be eroded by inflation.

A specific gift is a gift of any item, such as jewellery, property, or shares.

Giving shares to charity. This is not a new idea but there are now tax incentives to make giving shares even more attractive. You might hold shares that are effectively gathering dust, making little difference to you. If they are given to WIZO.UK in your lifetime, you can claim income tax relief on gifts of shares to charity of up to 40 per cent if you are a higher rate tax payer. In addition you will not pay any capital gains tax, which you might have had to pay if you had sold the shares.

Alternatively you may own small parcels of shares, perhaps as a result of an inheritance, that you regard as a bit of a nuisance as they generate more paperwork than income. These could be turned into something of real value to others by giving them to WIZO.UK It may be possible by a Deed of Family Arrangement to pass these straight on to WIZO.UK, thereby benefiting from tax relief. To find out how the relief on any of the above applies to your personal circumstances please contact your financial adviser and discuss it with your solicitor.
