MORE THAN 2,000 PEOPLE TAKE PART IN WIZO.ukquiz@home 2009 Over 2,000 people throughout the UK and a team in Eilat took part in the WIZO.ukquiz@home on-line supper quiz (167 teams) during the evening of Saturday 31 January 2009. Funds raised were in excess of £35,000, benefiting 12,000 children at risk in Israel. Winning team was hosted by Nicola Garcia, an independent member of the younger AVIV movement within WIZO.uk. Joint second were the teams led by WIZO.uk Life member Diane Goldman of Leeds Anne Frank; and Renee Aronson, Life Member of Oxford WIZO, followed closely by WIZO.uk Trustee Alan Graham with a team from WIZO Chamanit (Elstree). The Newcastle team of Brenda Levinson and family participated in the quiz from Eilat, joined by four generations of her family members: those visiting from the UK and those living in Israel.The team came 119th. This year, some 2,000 people (400 more than in 2008) took part, from as far afield as Northern Ireland, Scotland, north of England, south-west England and in Israel. This year's quiz is once again devised by Andy Epstein and her son Edward with software created by IT specialist Benjy Arnold, enabling answers to be submitted on-line.
